I finished this shawl last week. Ended up with over 500 stitches.Took forever t bind off. Then I used a size bigger needle to bind off. Which is why I think it made the ruffle. Which was the top. But is now the ruffly bottom. I really had no idea what I was doing. I just started knitting from the bottom up. So please don't laugh at this very first shawl I've ever made. It still needs to be blocked too.
I did a lot of yarn overs to make the little holes. I just thought it needed something in there besides just all knitted. And I love the colors. It's not a heavy shawl. The yarn was probably more lace weight. Not really sure. So, there it is. And I had models a few days ago, but forgot to get pictures of it on.
Now to start on a new project!
I stopped at a cute little thrift type store in town yesterday after I voted. I had some time before my pottery class. And I found this cool pot. I love it. She had $19.50 on it and I asked if she'd take $15. She did! I love the color. I am thinking about redoing my kitchen and these are the colors I am leaning towards. With maybe some pops of red and yellow. Just something different. And I would love to find an old vintage range in this color. Wouldn't that be awesome? I have an old GE with a big and a small oven and the extra room on top. I love this stove. But I am down to only 1 big eye now. And the smaller over only has broil working. But I am not ready to get rid of it. I would like to get it fixed some day. And maybe it could be painted?

No, you knit it top down. You increased from the neckline. If you had started at the bottom you would have started with 500 its and decreased to the neck. The ruffle is likely because of the increase rate, too many sts were increased. without knowing the pattern name I can't make an informed guess, but that's usually why a piece ruffles. Love the colors!

Yay!! I have been following you daily for weeks and weeks but my old PC was dying. Hubby bought me a new super zooty computer that works at warp speed. Had to change some Google settings and now I'm back!! I hope you think that's a good thing. ;)

I love your shawl and if you do thats all that matters. And you most certainly can paint your stove. I painted a fridge once. It was a gift to us when we first got married. Was only about 3 years old but had been in a basement and had rust coming thru the paint. I sanded it and painted it candy apple red, from a auto parts store. Perfect finish with chrome handles. Used it for 13 years!

Chrisknits, I didn't use a pattern. I just started knitting and this is what I ended up with. I just cast on 4 and increased every few rows. I am pretty new at knitting and still have trouble reading patterns.
Yay Betty Ann's back!!! I have missed you SO much. And I have to admit I was a little worried something had happened to you. I am so glad you're still with us! And that you have a new computer. That's so aggravating. My mom gets very frustrated with hers and just turns it off.
Thanks Kim. I do like it and now I know there is not another one like it, I like it even better! I will look into painting the stove, if I can get it fixed. It's going to be about $500 and he said there's really no guarantee it will work for very long. But it beats $5,000 for a vintage stove. I just do not like any of the new stoves at all. I bet your red stove was amazing.
