This looks crazy but I am going to try it. One of the girls on Mary Jane's Farm Connection told us about taping her doe's udders so she wouldn't have to separate does and kids. So I am trying it today. If it works, it could be quite pricey. Medical tape isn't cheap. And that's what this is. 2 rolls for about $4.00 at Dollar General.
So this is Abby's udder.
This is Abby looking at me like I am mean to her. How could I do such a thing?
This is Sandy's udder.
And she doesn't care, apparently. Just leave her alone and let her eat, ok?
And this is Iris Josie. She is not impressed at all. She won't even look.
And I couldn't get a picture of the other little doe kid, Brie. She wasn't impressed with all this either. But I bet she'll find a way to those teats. I betcha she will. She's good about getting to her momma like that.
And here are some of the cats, waiting for some milk. Not this morning, guys. Hopefully tonight you'll have some. If the tape isn't pulled off by ornery greedy goat kids anyway. We shall see.

I tried that once... well I kept trying for several days, but the kid did find a way eventfully. I think I could have taped them better and if it did pull the hairs when the kid tried to nurse, mom wouldn't have liked it much and would have stopped the kid. The thing I didn't like was that the tape pulled the hairs on my does udder, which was apparently painful when I pulled it off. I even used the special tape for udders that said it wouldn't pull hairs! Right! NOT! I think I would try it again though, because I like the kids to be with mom and I wouldn't need to separate if I chose to bottle feed or even to just separate at night...
I hope it works for you!
Good luck with that. Never heard of it, but I don't have goats. We just keep the cow and calf seperate, until we dry mom off. But good luck!
I did have to shave Abby. She's pretty hairy. But not Sandy. I just went to check on them and one f Abby's had been taken off and one of Sandy's too. So I just stuck tape on the teat. I guess by trial and error I'll see how this works.
When I purchased the teat tape it came with instructions on how to tape them.
I found these instruction here about 3/4 the way down the page

Thank you, Linda. They sure have a lot of great tips there.
Good afternoon Kris, I was wondering how the taping went... :D
