I really wasn't going to keep any kids this year. But I am seriously thinking of going with Nubian does and a Boer buck for the cross. I really like them. And they are easier to sell apparently. I am trying to sell all the LaManchas right now. So that would leave me with the 2 does and 3 kids. I think these girls will be a good addition to my farm venture.
Sandy always has pretty kids. But these girls are adorable. And so sweet already. My grand daughter Kansas goes out there all the time to play with them. So they are getting used to us. Most of the time her kids are very skittish.
We had Nubians and Boers at one time and had crosses as well. They do compliment each other. My oldest daughter LOVES Nubians and misses them. They were our first goat! We didn't realize what a "vocal" breed they were until we got another breed of goat. We did have a bottle fed nubian that was the sweetest goat we ever had.
They are for sure the loudest most neurotic goats ever! Sandy used to be the loudest goat here, but Penelope has her beat now. She's half Nubian and LaMancha. I seem to be able to sell the Nubian-Boer cross better than the LaMancha right now. I can't seem to sell John Henry or Ira Joe. Maybe in the fall? I always thought the Nubian was too crazy for me but now might be a better time.
Are you keeping them?
ReplyDeleteCute and all different colors.
