My 4 does, patiently waiting to get into the milk room. To eat. And to be milked. I'm milking all 4 now once a day. I also have my friend's 2 does that I'm milking twice a day. Fun! And lots of milk again. I have enough to make cheese. And to give my daughter, who's dog Daisy, had 7 of the cutest puppies 3 weeks ago. And is now pretty tired of being a mom. So she's bottle feeding them with goat milk. Silly mothers. I guess if I had 7 babies at once, I'd be a bit overwhelmed too.
Well Kristin had quite a bee issue this week and also finally sold off some baby bottle bucklings that were sucking up a whole lot of goat milk! I am sorry I don't take time to comment every day, but rest assured, I do check in. It has been as crazy busy here as it has been at your house. Love that you got a new camera. I'm sure your feta was delicious.

Busy market day tomorrow and we have worked all day today preparing for it. I'll answer for Kristin regarding the bees. Last spring just before 2 months of horrible rains, one of her hives outgrew it's hive and swarmed before she could harvest the honey and add another super. And then, as we all recall, it commenced to rain. And rain. And rain. And then both of her hives collapsed and she ceased beekeeping. Fast forward to this week. A swarm of honey bees took up residence at the corner of her kitchen bay window, which is on the second story above the walkout lower level, and so very, very high up. They were bearding down the side of her wall and moving into the eaves of the bay window. We suspect it was some of her own bees that swarmed last spring. ReplyDeleteKris, I remember you mentioned you wanted some stinging nettle seeds. I bought some dye plant seeds and found a package of stinging nettle seeds included. Since I am trying to eliminate it growing wild here I would be more than happy to send you the seeds, but suggest you plant them in a container, it spreads by roots and seeds and can be invasive.

ReplyDeletePackages say early spring, oops, already summer here, 103 today. I bought seeds last November, so plant as soon as you get them, but they are very invasive so don't plant anywhere you don't want them, they spread by root and seed.

ReplyDeleteI have a few ads on CL for sheep and lambs and goats. I am frantic here trying to sell these sheep! The grass just isn't growing fast enough for 32 sheep and 2 alpacas. I might have to borrow a trailer and take them to a sale soon. They get to where they are just about knocking me down when I go out to feed them. It's awful! And scary. I do not need broken legs or knees.
